Isaac grinned, "aye aye, ma'am" Isaac said to Linn, he flicked a few swiches and hit the gas, the alliance ship began to intercept. "Lets see how this thing handles" Isaac muttered to himself and he started to get to the limits of speed, Issac pressed down the intercom button, "yo guys and gals, I suggest you hang onto something or we'll have to scrape you of the floor. Time to shine!!" Isaac yelled into the intercom as he punched the engines into overdrive.

Charlie headed back to the cargo bay. Surprisingly enough, the girl was right where she'd left her. After a moment of surprise, she gestured for the girl to follow as she crossed the bay and went up the second set of stairs. Through the corridor, into the dining room, and finally to the sitting area just off it, with bolted down seats and belts to strap them in. The girl was strapped in just in time for the announcement.

"yo guys and gals, I suggest you hang onto something or we'll have to scrape you of the floor. Time to shine!!"

It was hard to hold back a comment about Isaac's piloting abilities under the best of circumstances, but Charlie just about managed it. She should probably have been in the engine room, but right now someone needed to get answers out of the girl, and she'd much prefer if the important people were more focused on, well, keeping them all alive.

"Start talking." There was no need to try and sound menacing - sheer annoyance made her tone dark enough. The girl just looked at her, and so Charlie said it again, enunciating each word. "Start. Talking."

And so she did.

Nol finally arrived on the bridge and looked out the view ports. His eyes went wide at seeing the Alliance cruiser coming towards them. Nol slumped at realizing it was already to late to run. He turned towards Isaac and Linn. "Power down Isaac. Answer their hail. It is already to late for us to run, see" he said pointing to a light on the console indercating that they were already under tow by the cruiser. "Linn, go move or cripple into the infirmary, though please make sure he wont be talking. Maybe ask the doc to drug him. Isaac keep us on course and tell them we are ready for their arrival. I will help Charlie and Shepherd Quentin to hide our little surprise. Okay guys lets look like we have nothing to hide" he said and matched actions to words quickly running down the stairs towards the cargo bay. "Shepherd I need you in the cargo bay now" he said passing an intercom.

After explaining to both Charlie and Quentin what was going on he looked at the girl who oddly was still unsure who she was or even wearing clothes. "Charlie you couldn't even get her some clothes?" he asked her then interrupted before she could answer. "Never mind. So how are we going to hide her then?" he asked them both realizing he had no idea himself.

"Charlie you couldn't even get her some clothes?"/"Never mind. So how are we going to hide her then?"

While Richie looked clueless and kept his eyes averted (they were so far from the girl that they'd practically shifted to the back of his head), Charlie opened her mouth to point out that they'd been a little too preoccupied with - hello! - the Alliance cruiser over their heads, when she was cut off dead.

Nolen's question made her stare at him incredulously. And then laugh, short and sharp. "You know nothing about your baby here, do you? That is why I'm your mechanic." She stripped off her overalls as quickly as she could - tossing Richie a quick apology for the fact she was only in a t-shirt and boy shorts underneath - and gave it to the girl to get into before pulling back on her boots and leading everyone back down to the cargo bay by the back stairs, so she could grab her toolbelt from the engine room. "Seems she doesn't know why she was kidnapped. She's from Whitefall, though, learned that much," she filled Nolen in on the way.

Down in the cargo bay, she used her tools to remove two panels from the walls. To the naked eye, these wouldn't be at all suspicious. Once removed, however, they left crawlspaces of a decent enough size to store small cargo trunks, nevermind a girl. Charlie got her to sit inside and they set about hiding the empty box she'd previously been in.

Off to the side, Charlie whispered to Nolen. "Boss, I think we should sedate her. If she panics in there, they may hear her."

Isaac powered down the engines and gave Nol a 'I could have outran them look', "very well bossman, will do" Isaac said with disappointment in his voice, Isaac opened up the hailing frequencies, " Nightfall to Alliance Cruiser, we have received you hail and are ready to dock when needed to, you will get no resistance from us", Isaac nodded to Nol band spoke, "I'll be staying here, I prefer not to deal with alliance epically after being with Thantos" Isaac ponded whether or not to fly off as he could be recognized as Thantos, but it would be far worse if he just flew off because that would mean he would have to reveal his past to the crew and he did not want to do that just yet.

Katylinn heard Nol's voice from behind her and it was like they were back in Serenity Valley. The man had had a knack for command back then, and though he was not ranked that high, the soldiers listened. "Aye sir, but we ain't got no doc. More traditional methods will have to serve", she said as she slid past him and back to where she had locked their prisoner.

She arrived at the guest quarters and had a roll of electrical tape in her hand. This would make sure he wouldn't give her too much trouble as she moved him and when she got there she would just tie him down. She pushed the door open with her naked falcata in one hand, the tape in the other. "Come to finish the job have ya? You'll get nothin' outta me" he sneered at Linn. She igored his jibe and motioned for him to face the wall. She roughly pulled his hands behind his back and taped them together before giving him a push out the door, the falcata resting in the small of his back.

Infirmary

The glass doors of the infirmary slid open and she pointed to the cold steel gurney that was in the centre of the room. He sat down on the gurney and Linn sent her elbow into his nose. There was a dull crack as blood spurted from the now broken nose and he fell into unconsciousness. Linn took the time to secure him with excessive amounts of tape to the railing of the bed. She made sure there were no sharp implements that he could use to saw through the tape within reach, and satisfied, she strode from the room and made her way to the seating area. "He's secure sir. Won't wake up for a while. Do we know who she is yet sir?"

Nol gave a raised eye brow at the way she dressed the girl. I'm gotta a weird crew he thought to himself as he then quickly thought. "Okay that'll have to do for now. Lets get her to the infirmary then" he said as he lead the way. He saw Linn there with the man laying still on the bed. "Crude but effective" he let slip as went to the medical tools. Pulling out the needle he looked at the two women, "You might want to hold her" he said as he noted the fear in her eyes at the sight of the needle. He only put a tine bit of the sedative into the needle not entirely knowing how much he needed. He then gave it to her and looked at the two just as the ship clunked. "Okay you two can hide her, I'll go say hi to our guests" he said walking out of the room.

Leilani was lying on her bed, trying to read a book that she had found on her bag as she settled her things at the rented room. She didn't remember if she had read it before or not, but she was enjoying the story anyway. Then the whole ship shook. She left the book over the bed as she stood up a bit startled. 'What's going on? Weird. Maybe I should go check it out.' She thought to herself as she left the room for the ship's common area, second only to the dinning area in crew popularity, one of the best places on Nightfall to meet people and gather information about what was happening.

"...I'll go say hi to our guests." Nolan said walking out of the room just as Leilani was arriving to halt his progress. "Maybe I could help you convince them of the great man you are. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I could be helpful in dealing with your guests. You were so gallant for taking me in. I want to reciprocate, captain." She declared her intentions and waited for his reply. As usual her clothes were richly made, sensual, but not vulgar. The typical attire of a companion.

Nol almost stopped in his track as Leilani came up to him. He had taken the Companion in with the crew and had struck an agreement on that she could use one of the shuttles for as long as she liked. Over the time she had become part of the crew just like the Shepherd had. Although Nol didn't treat any of the females on the ship with any sort of disrespect some had been saying that he favored her above the rest. Nol couldn't see that. But he did notice the lack of words and not in his throat every time they were together. "Ummm Okay" he said a little nervous to her "Umm you know that they are Alliance don't you?" he said as he heard snickering from behind him. He chose to ignore it.

Leilani noticed her unannounced arrival sort of startled the captain. She seemed to have that effect on him. He was so wrapped around her finger by now that it was fun to play around with him, respectfully, off course. Maybe she had the perfect idea to come see what's going on. If the captain went to see the Alliance officers being so agitated, they'd certainly throw him in the brig and ask questions later. "Ummm Okay." Nolan said a little nervous to her. "Umm you know that they are Alliance, don't you?" He said as he heard snickering from behind him.

"That shouldn't be a problem, captain. The only people in the 'verse that cannot be reasoned with are the Reavers. Everyone else just want you to say what they want to hear. If you do that, no problem!" Leilani said confident and nonchalant. "The Alliance officers live such a life of boredom that it's not that difficult to talk to them. Though if they notice you're this nervous... It certainly won't be good for you. Relax! Unless you want to scream to the whole 'verse that something is happening here that shouldn't be..." She said with an inciting tone of voice as she began to massage his shoulders after saying relax. She stopped as she heard someone snicker. She had no intention to undermine his leadership in front of his crew by allowing them to make fun of him. That was her privilege and hers alone. "I don't want to know why there are two unconscious people in the room, the less is in our minds, the better we refrain from saying it at unwanted times. Let's go? How long do you need to finish up? We'll stall them ever so gently, they won't notice it as such." She said again with confidence and a hint of practicality, not showing any hints of fear as if she had passed through such situation before. She, then, expected the captain to lead her out of room, so they could get this 'issue' over with and go on. She had an appointment and didn't want to apologize for a delay.

As much as she wanted to stand around and watch the Captain make an ass of himself (top class entertainment, it most definitely was), Charlie opted for not having a kidnap victim left out in the open. She gestured to Katylinn, and the pair of them hauled the groggy girl up, past Law and Leilani, and got her stowed away back in her hidey hole.

Of course, they'd still have to explain why they had a shot man tied up in the infirmary. This wouldn't be pretty.

Charlie jogged upstairs to her quarters, pulled on a pair of cargo pants, and found her ID. With any luck, her contact would have gotten her records all squared up. Many of the less trustworthy forgers would give you a good looking ID, take your money, and 'forget' to tell you that your retinal scans would still bring up your original ID because they were too lazy to change the records. Lovely people.

She went back downstairs to the cargo bay, sitting on one of the crates to wait for the Nightfall to be brought into the Alliance ship proper.

Katylinn nodded and helped Charlie haul the sedated girl and stow her away in one of the smuggler's holds she had found on the ship. Katylinn's ID was in the pocket of her pants, so she didn't have to worry about that. Also getting her rifle would not be the best of moves; a pistol was one thing, a rifle in the confines of the ship said something completely different. If push came to shove, her throwing knives could do enough damage. She went back to the cargo bay after making sure the girl could not be seen and stood beside Nol, this was gonna be a trial for the both of them. It was her first run in with the Alliance since the war, she was not certain about Nol.

Post  Katylinn on Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:04 pm

OOC: The site went down for about six hours and when it came back up, the posts were gone. Just skipped forward to us being in our own interrogation rooms.

Orbit Of Ousren
Aramanth
Interrogation Room Three

Katylinn sat in the cold metal chair, her hands resting on the steel table in front of her. The room was dimly lit and sparse - in other words; like every other interrogation room the Alliance employed. And at the moment, she was the sole occupant, but if her dealings with them were anything to go by; not for much longer. She looked up dully as she heard the door open to admit her interrogators.

Jiang walked in, his blue uniform starched almost solid, his information pad tucked under one arm. He'd been told the woman he was to question was dangerous; judging by the wary look on her face, the knives she'd had on her person, and her history as Browncoat, it was more than likely very true.

He sat at the table opposite her, laying his pad in front of him. Her profile was on screen.

"Do you want to tell me how you came to be on the Nightfall, Ms Mersah?"

Katylinn took in the anally tidy appearance of the Alliance man, pleased that they had missed one of her five throwing knives; though she sorely missed the comfortable feel of her falcata on her hip. "I am the First Mate", Mister?" she answered simply, raising her eyebrows and motioning for him to introduce himself. She was unsurprised with the speed that they had her file, but more suprised that they were taking it so slowly.

"My name is of no import to you," he said crisply as he added the new tidbit of information to her profile. First mate of a ship most likely specialising in theft and other petty crime - interesting, but not unexpected. He got up to go to the door, asking one of the guards to bring him a cup of coffee before returning to his seat. "First thing's first - an Alliance branded cargo has been stolen and was last seen in this area. I believe you have knowledge of it, and you will tell me what you know. Dǒngma?"

Linn shrugged her shoulders lightly, she never really expected to get a name, but it was worth the shot. She looked up at her interrogator, a blend of innocence and hardness on her face that could very well seem credible. "I know of no stolen Alliance cargo, on this ship or otherwise. Persephone is a big planet and there were plenty of other ships docked, you board them?" she asked with nothing but innocent curiosity in her voice.

"No, but then we've always been more interested in our test subjects. It's nice to see how you're getting along over the years." Not entirely a lie, though he knew it would provoke some panic. The Alliance had a fairly long list of people it wanted to keep close tabs on. A lot of Browncoats, like this Mersah and her Captain.

A knock at the door and his cup of coffee was brought in and set before him. He gave a sudden smile and picked it up to take a sip. On the pad was a list of the little things observed about Katylinn during her time in their 'care'. Of course, her penchant for coffee was on there too. "A rare blend grown and produced entirely on Sihnon. Aside from a few lucky dignitaries on Londinium and Ariel, no one else gets to so much as look at this." He gave a little shrug - awkward given the confines of his uniform, and turned his attention back fully to her. "Shall we try again? Tell me about the cargo."

Katylinn turned her eyes to the door as it was opened and a steaming cup of coffee -real coffee at that was brought in. She forced herself not to take a deep breath and enhale the beautiful aroma of coffee with hints of chocolate and spices. She turned her gaze back to her interrogator as he spoke of the coffee. "A supreme blend" she answered non-commitally. She met his cold gaze with her own steely eyes. "I don't know anything about the cargo you seek" she answered firmly.

"Méi guānxi. There's time, I know whoever has the cargo will have taken decent care of it." Jiang pulled up the records for everyone else aboard the Nightfall with a few movements of his fingertips across the screen of his pad. He gave a mocking thoughtful hum. "These three, Shepherd Quentin, Doctor Druitt and Companion Lessari - their records are clean and we have no reason to hold them. Your pilot is a special case, I'm sure my superiors will have fun detangling that situation. That leaves you, Captain Law and your mechanic." He looked up at her, a hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth. "You know what the Alliance does. We have no reason to hide behind a veneer of civility with the likes of you, so I shall say this plainly. You have a choice. You can tell me what I need to know about the whereabouts of the cargo and the activities of your crew - or you can start deciding which of your friends is expendable. Personally, I would chose the Captain or the mechanic since no one would ever notice them missing, but it's your choice."

Katylinn kept her face blank at his next comment. There was no reason to, since she was not meant to know anything of the cargo. Linn forced the anger down as he began to threaten of the two people she cared about. "Your threatening my crew will not serve to get you information that I do not have" she emphasised. She took a deep breath and grit her teeth. "I know all too well what the Alliance does, Mister Interrogator. I was a guest for some time after the Battle for Serenity Valley. I do not know anything about any Alliance Cargo. And you may as well forego any more questions, I have nothing more to say" she said coldly as sge folded her hands together on the table.

It looked like she wasn't telling, if indeed she knew something. Jiang conceeded with a sigh and picked up his coffee once more. Women - more trouble than they were worth. He took a long swallow of coffee and glanced back down at the pad. "I know all about your incarceration, it's in your file. There's even video footage in the database, would you like to see?" The touch of a button and video of her being 'assessed' started playing along one wall of the room, grainy with dodgy audio, but clear enough to bring back memories.

Katylinn clenched her jaw as grainy but vivid video footage played out in front of her. Her hands clenched on the table and she forced her eyes away from the image on the screen to meet her interrogator's. "Now that is not really necessary", she ground out between her teeth; her voice cracking despite her best efforts. "I am sure you have many such footage in the database, tell me; did it teach you anything of value?" she asked lightly; having regained her composure as much as she could.

"No, but then I'm not a scientist," Jiang replied plainly. He glanced at his watch; there was no way Jade would be done with them yet. He could just leave Mersah to sit in this room for as long as it took, of course, but it would be a waste of both of their time. He changed tactics. "Tell me about your crew mates. And remember that I have their personal files - if you lie to me about anything I can verify, I will have to deal with you - or them - accordingly. The whole truth is probably the safer option here." With any luck she'd tell him new dirt on them - or let slip that she didn't really know them at all. Either would provide the Alliance with useful information.

Katylinn nodded her head, staring her interrogator straight in the eye, rather than look at a younger version of herself being burned - this time. Her hands were still clenched on the table, and she knew there was no chance they were going to relax with that footage playing. It is amazing how much the mind can mask, because what she was seeing was not something she remembered and she could see why. "You have us all here. If you want to know about my crewmates, perhaps you should ask them?" she asked and then cringed. A great blood and terror filled scream could be heard and with horror she saw that it was coming from the video.

Joint post in progress

Interrogation Room Five

Richie didn't bother lying to himself; as much as it looked otherwise, the room he was in was still an interrogation room. It had two comfortable armchairs, a low coffee table, a mug of which sat beside a fairly decent lunch platter. He picked up a Yu Tiao and chewed it absently while he waited for something to happen.

It was a little while later that a young officer walked in. She was pretty - extraordinarily so. Richie managed to surpress a smile. Seems the Alliance were planning to kill him with kindness - or manipulate him with hotness. Same difference.

"Ni hao. Shepherd Quentin, I've been requested to tell you that you're free to go as soon as your shipmates have been processed. That is if you wouldn't rather stay with us until we can drop you at a reputable port of debarkation."

Richie shook his head and picked up the mug of coffee to take a sip. "Waiting is fine with me. I'm afraid I haven't finished preaching to those lost souls yet." He gave her a pleasant smile and tilted his head questioningly. "Unless the need for God is more marked here? I will choose the masses over the few if need be. The more souls turned towards God, the better. Like sunflowers to the star."

She blinked at him. Thought about this. Gave a shake of her head. "Can't say we're overly interested in religion, but thank you. I was wondering if I may ask you a few questions?"

"Only if you start with 'ni hao ma'."

The sarcasm in his tone was subtle but clear. She gave a tight smile in response and nodded. "Fair enough. Ni hao ma?"

"Not great. I was in the middle of a bible study when your people boarded the ship. I'm sure you had just cause?"

"We have reason to believe the Nightfall is implicated in the disappearance of some important Alliance cargo. Have you seen anything suspicious, Shepherd?"

They were definitely after the girl. Richie found himself to be a little relieved. He wasn't entirely sure what the crew got up to when he wasn't around - he wouldn't have been surprised to learn they had been killing or pillaging or line dancing. Line dancing should definitely be a crime.

Cupping his coffee mug in his hands, Richie leaned forward a little towards the girl. His voice lowered to a whisper. It was no longer the warm voice of a shepherd drawing in sheep, but the measured tone of a man drawing in a woman - something he surely hadn't done in many years.

"Do you believe a shepherd would lie?"

"I'm not religious."

"But do you believe it?"

The girl considered this for a moment, while Richie sipped his coffee. "No."

"Then believe me when I say that I have never seen this crew commit a crime. Nor heard them speak of one, or even speak badly of the Alliance. They're a rarity out in the rim. Good people. I trust them with my life. I think it's an injustice that you are holding them, and I would really like it if I could resume my bible study. We're making good progress."

And now he was totally going to hell.

Nolan sat there with a cup of water and stared at the commander across the table. "So my dear, Find anythin' on my ship?" he sat the smiling. Jade looked at the man with a frown. "Captain Law. You may go back to your ship but answer me one question first. What are you doing out here. This is not you, you are a soldier not a mercenary." she asked awaiting for an answer. And an answer did come. "I get a kick out of my crew" he said smiling then walked out. Jade smiled and waited for Nolan to leave then turned to a female officer standing next to her. "You have placed the tracker then. I believe they are hiding something and I want to know what" she said then turned away.

Linn had left the Alliance vessel with relief. As the crew scurried about the Bridge, she walked up to Nolen. "If you need me I'll be in my quarters." she said in a tight voice before climbing down the ladder into her own space. She ran over to the small curtained off area and proceeded to vomit up the contents of her stomach before wiping her mouth and resting her head against the cool metal wall. She could feel the small shake of her hands and she crawled over to a slightly larger piece of floor. She stared blankly at the wall as she fought to force the images from her previous stay on an Alliance vessel from her mind. At least they had taken it relatively easy on the rest of the crew. Leave it to her to attract the sadist interrogator. She took a deep shuddering breath and took out the large whetstone that she kept for her blades. She relaxed into the familiar rhythm of the stone along the blade of her falcata, improving the already razor sharp blade in an effort to restore her scattered wits.

Orbit Of Ousren
Aramanth
Interrogation Room Seven

Leilani had followed the rest of the crew to the Cargo Bay where the Alliance officers boarded the ship and without ceremony nor words took them, or better mostly dragged them, into the Alliance ship. She was treated with some more respect though, which she liked, but not that much better to her standards. She was taken to a dark and insipid interrogation room just like the other crew members and left there alone until a woman entered. 'I guess they didn't want me to seduce the officer, if it was a guy. Not that it makes any difference...' She thought as the female officer took a seat in front of her at the opposite side of the table.

"What do you know about your crew mates and the cargo they have received?" The officer in her blues asked sort of bluntly.

"All I know is that they accepted me in. We travel together and that allows me to do my work with more freedom. We have a business arrangement. That's all there is to it on my end, officer." She said in a convincing tone. It wasn't a lie, but there was omission. Not that the other woman could notice in her tone of voice. "I don't know any cargo. I'm sorry not to be of greater help, but that's not part of our rental deal. I don't know what they do and they don't know what I do. We just travel together for convenience's sake." She continued the same way.

The officer checked her file and opened a smile that set off an alarm on Leilani's mind, but she just disregarded as nothing especial could be in her file anyway. Maybe her counterpart liked people in her line of duty, companions. "I understand your position, Miss Lessari, but I had to ask anyway. Some of those individuals have tags with the Alliance and we think they took our cargo." She said resolute.

"I don't believe so..." Leilani said with a shocked face. A perfect scene. "All the rare times we've talked, all of them were always so kind and nice. I have many objects of value and none was ever stolen from my quarters, officer. They're good people, not thieves." She continued. That was true. No one had never taken anything of hers, but she knew of some weird cargos they picked up like the last one. Not that anyone else would know that from her.

"Would you put your hand on the fire for them, Miss Lessari?" The officer asked.

Leilani looked at her with a confident face. The other woman was trying to play with her mind, but she knew the game. Companions are trained to know how to understand Human psychology and play around with anyone's minds. "Sure!" She replayed without bating an eye lash. The secret was to bluff and lie and not let anyone notice it.

"We're sorry for this, Miss Lessari, but it was necessary. We need to find our cargo. You may return to Nightfall. I'll escort you myself." The officer in blue said as she stood up.

"I fully understand your situation and I'm sorry not to be of further assistance." Leilani replied respectfully. "That would be perfect." She continued also raising from her seat with elegance and levity.

Both women left the room and walked within the confines of the Alliance ship until they reached the Nightfall in the Hanger Bay. "Thank you for guiding me back." Leilani said as she entered the cargo bay of the Firefly class ship. "Always ready to serve." The officer said then left. Guards were still watching the entrance of the cargo bay.

Leilani waited leaned against one of the big crates as the other crew members returned one by one. Mersah seemed like she had seen a ghost from the past as she walked towards her quarters. The captain was so eager to leave that region of space that it left margin to believe the same had happened to him. She followed the captain to the bridge.

Nightfall Bridge

"I know you'd like to leave as soon as possible, but running away could attract attention. I advise we leave steadily and patiently. Better not to give them a reason to pursue us." Leilani said naturally.

"Charlie are we ready for a burn?"
"I know you'd like to leave as soon as possible, but running away could attract attention. I advise we leave steadily and patiently. Better not to give them a reason to pursue us."

Charlie nodded. "I agree with Ms Lessari, but we'll be ready for a burn whenever you want it." With that she headed down the corridor, past the dining room, and into the engine room. Once inside, she sat down heavily and let out a deep sigh.

They'd known who she was. They hadn't let on, her file had been clean, but she could see it in her interrogaters eyes. He'd known. And if he knew about her real identity, it stood to reason that he knew a hell of a lot more. This was all kinds of not good. She needed to get back to Londinium - soon.

Once she'd checked everything was okay in the engine room - they'd really given the place a once over in their search for illegal cargo - she headed back down to the cargo bay to check on the girl, their 'cargo'. Gods, this job was a huge mess.

Shinon
Personal Shuttle

Amane settled into the soft chair of her personal rooms within the guild. It still smelled faintly of the orange blossom incense she'd used with her last client. She retrieved a small silk handkerchief and wiped at her hands, removing what little oil remained. Her Guild leaders words echoed in her head, Mere persistence would simply remove them from our contract registry, they however are offering amounts that are simply inexcusable to refuse. Fix it.
Amane scowled, slight lines creasing her aristocratic face, Well, she was fixing it she thought. A trip around the 'verse sounds wonderful, this time of year, sarcasm dripping from her tone.

She engaged the wave communicator, hoping to speak with the captain of the small firefly-class ship Nightfall she had been informed about. Her scowl smoothed out, leaving behind a young looking woman with a small, pleasant smile gracing her face. It engaged and with a shiver she faced the screen.

"This is Kinomoto Amane, hailing the Nightfall, is there anyone available?" Amane waited a moment and with a mental shrug continued. "I'm requesting a pick up, I was referred to you by a colleague who has traveled with you before, Leilani Lessari. My belongings are already packed and ready with me. As Miss Lessari has communicated to me she will be leaving you I am willing to take over her shuttle. I'm willing to meet the same price also but only for the next week. After that I will find other transport. Signing off."

Amane slumped, flicking the buttons of the waver to turn it off and hoping she hadn't been too insulting, it was something she needed to work on. She spun the chair and looked around the room; once filled with the belongings of a long-time companion it now helped only the basics and what she would take with her personally. Her tapestries, trinkets and personal instruments were packed away in the adjoining room, while she used the basics of a new trainee until she was picked up by the Nightfall. A quick check of her appointment calendar and she headed for the training room, swiping her katana as she went.

Nol looked at the mechanic as she left then turned back to the view screen. "When did I loss command of my own ship. I want as far as I can get from that cruiser as we still have what they are looking for. Charlie I want burn in ten" Nol said then realized that he had been yelling the last part, and added "Please Charlie do this one thing I ask of you without question just this once. My gut is playing up on this and you know what that usually means" he said. Nolan had like a sixth sense when it came to trouble and he called it his gut feeling. Now the crew had begun to believe that he could sense when trouble was coming.

"Oh Shinny, More guest" He turned to talk to the Companion about this but noticed she had disappeared. "Huh? Now I have ghost on this ship. What happen to get the job, do the job then get paid and spend it" he said then hit the transmission button. "Miss Amane welcome aboard. Please meet us on the Planet Xeon Yu as we may have business there." he said "I'll be in the Mess" he said leaving the bridge for something a little harder than the coffee.

"Please Charlie do this one thing I ask of you without question just this once. My gut is playing up on this and you know what that usually means"

It amused Charlie that Law automatically assumed she would argue with his decision. She rarely ever did - complained a lot, sure, but rarely bothered to argue. She'd been working ships for a decade and knew damned well that keeping on he Captain's good side was best for all concerned.

She made sure the girl was okay and released, and headed back to the engine room.

"You'll get your damned burn," she said into a comms console as she passed it.

She prepped the engine from it's cooled state, making sure it was ready to go when the ten minutes were up. Then she set about tidying up. Not that there was much to tidy up: aside from tools and a few odds and ends, the room was pretty bare. Unless the Alliance guys had gone into the engine components, they hadn't fiddled with too much.

And if they had gone into the engine components, they could be screwed once the burn started. Radiation leak, engine explosion, any number of other bad things. The engine looked fine enough though. It rumbled with a satisfactory purr through the deck.

Charlie walked through to the dining area, pouring herself a mug of now-cold coffee. "We're good to go, Captain. As always."

Cargo Bay ---> Passenger Accommodations

Richie found the girl sitting idly in the bay, groggy from the sedatives she'd been given and still dressed in only the loose dark overalls. The sleeves fell past her wrists and she'd taken to holding the excess in the palms of her hands, nervously. The snap fastenings hadn't been done up all the way and it showed slightly more flesh than he found decent. Overall, it was a little disturbing.

With hands on her shoulders, he gently guided the girl through to the guest accommodations and got her settled in one of the empty rooms. She lay down without argument, almost instantly curling up under the sheets to sleep again. Richie considered staying with her incase she woke up scared but something hold him that wouldn't be the best idea.

Instead he went back down to his room and just sat down. There was nothing to do. Nothing he wanted to do. He had lied to the Alliance. He had told them that these were good people and, while that may be true of their hearts, there was no way their activities matched up.

Lying wasn't such a big thing, and he surely wasn't scared of the Alliance finding out what he had done. No, he was more concerned with his spiritual well-being. The longer he was on the ship, the more he wanted to give in, to go back to life. While shepherding had given him purpose and comfort when he needed it, he missed human pleasures too. Human vices. Lust and greed and pride, sloth and the rest.

Though, he supposed, there was a reason they were called the 7 Deadly Sins.

No. He missed being a everyday person, but that hunger would just have to be channelled into convincing whoever he could that God was the only thing they really needed.

Now he just had to start believing that himself.

Katylinn got to her feet shakily and washed her face in cool water, her face looking drawn with the memories of what she had endured. She took a shaky deep breath and slid the falcata into the sheath on her belt. She gave one last look to the haunted person in the mirror and then turned back to the ladder, only a slight shaking in her hands. She climbed slowly up the ladder and made her way to the dining room, taking the less travelled route in an effort to evade her crewmates.

She gave a barely audible sigh as she heard voices coming from the dining room and then came around the corner and saw the Captain and Charlie. Katylinn gave them both a nod and made her way to the coffee machine, not trusting her voice enough to speak. She made a fresh batch of coffee, sliding one mug across to Charlie and then poured a larger than normal amount of whiskey into her own coffee and downing half of it in one gulp, closing her eyes as it burned down her throat. She walked over to one of the seats and slumped into it, cradling the mug in her hands, the cup shaking slightly with her hands.

"You'll get your damned burn,"/"We're good to go, Captain. As always."

"Thank you Charlie" he said in response as he poured a cold cup from the kettle that was boiled almost an hour earlier. "Goram Alliance" he mumbled as both Charlie and Katy walked in and got them selves cups to. "Okay so we can't do the delivery because it's just not right, yeah I know that I'm turning down the money and thats really not like me, but I never signed up to be a people smuggler. And I'm sure none of you did either. So I think it time to think, and the only place in this goram crazy galaxy to do that is our little home away from home. Larous." Nol said with a smile. Larous was a small planet with a small settlement that were more and less brown coats who had banded together to create their own little world. And thus any smuggler with a heart was welcome their. And of course Nol and the crew were always welcome their because of their charity work for the settlement run by Nolan's old commander, Jett Macmillan.

Charlie looked between Nol and Katy, eyes slightly narrowed. She agreed to the Captain's plan with a slight nod of her head - though it wasn't like she had any choice but to agree. He was the Captain after all. She did, however, voice one complaint as she pulled a snack bar from the cupboard.

"We should ditch the girl. If the Alliance decide to follow us and find her there, it could bring all kinds of zāogāo down on some very good people," she said simply, not bothering to wait for a reply. It would be up to Nol and Katy, after all.

She'd noticed the tremble in Katy's hands as soon as she'd started pouring her coffee. Charlie just gave her a nod as she passed. There wasn't much to say. 'Sorry the alliance screwed with your head' didn't quite cut it.

Charlie went to the engine room. The burn was delivered as soon as their passenger was aboard, and within minutes they'd put a comfortable distance between themselves and the Alliance cruiser. Charlie downed her cooling coffee in two long gulps and jogged down the nearest stairs, eating her snack bar on the way.
